How has your work/professional life changed since we last spoke to you?
My career has changed drastically. I am now a designer at YouTube, working on the music team. I get to incorporate my photography with music and it is truly a dream.
What’s the biggest difference you’ve seen in your industry?
My industry is a little messy, I would say designers in tech face the challenge of being a forever-contractor. Companies would rather take the easy way out and it can be a difficult/lengthy process to become a full-time salaried employee.
How has getting yourself or your work seen changed? Any changes in how you market yourself or your brand?
Since I maintain my Instagram somewhat, I still get a lot of brands and creatives wanting to collaborate. I have not been on social media much since I need some time to push out new work (but my LinkedIn is poppin’).
Anything that you know now that you wish you had known then? What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
I wish I would have pursued photography as a career, or at least put in an effort. I always had photography as my creative outlet and blending it with work would clutter my free flowing creative process. That is true now, however, I am experimenting with other creative outlets.
Where do you see your future going?
I see myself being self-employed in the near future.
What advice do you have for others when handling things not going as planned or adapting to changes?
Change is the only way we can grow. Change sheds light onto things we could not see before. Things will be hard and it will take time, you just have to keep doing what you love. Passion is everything.
